Cardiologist & eDUCATOR
Dr. Aimee Welsh is a cardiologist focused on managing and preventing cardiovascular disease through Lifestyle medicine and plant-based nutrition. She is as passionate about holistically viewing and caring for her patients as she is about promoting the awareness and adoption of a science-backed, plant-based diet to improve the health and well-being of patients and the communities she serves.
Dr. Welsh received her undergraduate degree from Union College and medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her postgraduate medical training at George Washington University and the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and lifestyle medicine. She is certified in plant-based nutrition through the T. Colin Campbell Institute for Nutrition Studies.
She served as the medical director of cardiovascular services at West Bend Health Center, a community hospital and outpatient center in the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin academic health system in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 2013 through 2020 and was the co-founder and co-director of the Preventive Cardiology Program at Froedtert Hospital from 2012 through 2020.
She moved to Maine in 2020 and spent two years at Maine Health Cardiology where she continued share her knowledge and passion for plant-based nutrition and Lifestyle medicine with colleagues throughout the Maine Health system, primary care providers throughout the state of Maine, residents and medical students, and countless patients. She served as an assistant professor of medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and served as an advisor to Tufts University residents and medical students to develop a formal Lifestyle Medicine interest group.
She relocated back to Milwaukee, WI in 2022 and rejoined the division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin where she currently serves as an assistant professor of medicine and radiology and is the director of the Cardiac Prevention and Wellness Program and cardiac rehabilitation. She is excited to build upon the Preventive Cardiology Program she co-founded back in 2012 by incorporating innovative digital health tools and Lifestyle Medicine practices with an emphasis on plant-based nutrition to create a holistic treatment plan for patients based on their health and wellness goals.
