Research Scientist & Clinical Social Worker

Dr. Kimberly O’Brien

Kim seeks to empower athletes to be resilient in sport and in life. As a former National Championship Harvard Hockey player, Kim has a passion for working with teen and young adult competitive athletes with mental health concerns. And after years of acute psychiatric care training and experience, she has returned to her roots by founding Unlimited Resilience to help athletes succeed in sport and mental health. As the mental skills coach for the Harvard Women’s Hockey team and a clinical social worker in the Sports Medicine Division and Female Athlete Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, Kim actively seeks to positively impact athletes and sports.

Kim coaches field hockey, hockey, and lacrosse and still loves to compete. She believes being an athlete is critical to sports therapy and requires that every Unlimited Resilience therapist identify as an athlete in support of this belief.
