Angie Nelp

Angie Nelp is an accomplished Head Women’s Basketball Coach with nearly 20 years of coaching experience, who is currently transforming her home state of Oklahoma through her leadership at the University of Tulsa. Committed to developing her players into successful individuals, she fosters grit and autonomy through a culture centered on personal growth and service to others.

At the University of Tulsa, Nelp has quickly created a winning program. As the fastest coach in program history to record 50 wins, she has achieved the highest winning percentage, the longest win streak, and the best home record in program history. Additionally, as the only coach in program history with three consecutive winning seasons, she has also tied the school record for most conference wins.

Nelp’s tenure at Tulsa is marked by significant team and individual achievements. Under her guidance, the Hurricanes clinched the AAC Regular Season Championship in the 2023-2024 season, their first conference championship in 18 years. Her players have received numerous accolades, including Conference Player of the Year and several All-Conference Team selections.

Prior, Nelp honed her expertise as an Associate Head Coach and Assistant Coach at several Division I programs. As Associate Head Coach at Arizona State, she shaped the team’s offensive strategies and overall performance. At Rice University and Mercer University, she led player recruitment. And at Marquette and the University of Arkansas, she built a solid foundation in basketball operations and player development.

Nelp’s ability to empower individuals to transcend their circumstances and exceed expectations is rooted in her own experiences. As a professional player, she led the Colorado Chill to a National Women’s Basketball League title and Stockholm Sweden’s team to a national crown.

Academically, Nelp earned a Master’s in Kinesiology from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor’s in Health and Exercise Science from Colorado State University, where she led the Rams to three NCAA Tournaments, earning Defensive Player of the Year and induction into the University Hall of Fame. In high school, she was named Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year and state tournament MVP.

Her modest upbringing instilled in her the resilience to overcome challenges, fueling her relentless pursuit of success both on and off the court. Dedicated to fostering selflessness, promoting engagement, and uplifting those around her, Nelp’s impact will resonate through her teams and across communities within and beyond her home state for generations to come.
