Over the past 15 years, Head Coach Corinne Jones has significantly influenced collegiate women’s basketball across Western New York. Leveraging her background as a former player, she fosters inclusive team environments that motivate her athletes to embrace challenges and diverse viewpoints. This approach not only enhances their performance on the court but also fosters significant personal growth.

Under her leadership, the SUNY Brockport women’s basketball team has recorded its most successful season in 15 years, marked by exceptional academic performance and numerous All-Conference honors.

Off the court, Jones is deeply committed to promoting inclusivity and leadership. She founded the Student Athletes for Equity group and actively contributes to the University’s Women’s Leadership Network. Additionally, as the Conference Representative for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, she mentors fellow coaches through “Huddle Groups,” emphasizing her dedication to the professional growth within the coaching community.

Prior to her current role, Jones led teams to substantial postseason success in western New York. At Niagara University, she was promoted from Associate to Interim Head Coach and became renowned for her player development skills. Notably, she coached the university’s Hall of Fame all-time leading scorer. Furthermore, her strategic recruitment and team culture development at the University of Buffalo significantly contributed to the team’s success.

Jones has earned multiple accolades, including Coach of the Year at Genesee Community College, where she also led her team to a conference championship and a postseason tournament appearance. At the University of Rochester, her teams advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen twice. Her early experiences teaching and coaching at the high school level provided a strong foundation in educational leadership.

Jones holds an M.S. in Teaching and Curriculum from the University of Rochester and an A.B. in Biology from Bowdoin College, where she was a captain of two NCAA Division III Elite Eight teams. Her educational journey and athletic leadership underscore her comprehensive grasp of integrating sports and academics.

Jones is uniquely equipped to guide student-athletes to flourish and cultivate positive relationships within their communities. As she continues to implement innovative strategies, Jones shapes the future of her players and sets new standards for the next generation of educational and athletic leadership.
