Nicole Van Valen, M.S., L.M.F.T., is a distinguished leader, advisor, board member, and public speaker with over two decades of experience in healthcare, behavioral health, and consumer engagement. As a Senior Business Leader and Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician, she has excelled in enhancing leadership, fostering team resilience, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
In her 13-year tenure at CVS Health and Aetna, Van Valen has been instrumental in aligning cross-functional teams with organizational values. Her role has been critical in enhancing wellness and improving lives. Most notably, she spearheaded the creation of ‘Resilience Resources’, including virtual support groups and a Leaders Guide to Mental Well-Being, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Currently, as the Supplier Diversity Senior Manager at CVS Health, Van Valen has developed and implemented the innovative Supplier Diversity Advisory Council Strategy, underscoring her commitment to broadening inclusion in business sourcing and positively impacting the wider community.
As the President and Founder of Keane Insights, Van Valen has been at the forefront of driving growth and fostering vibrant cultures within social service and healthcare organizations throughout the last decade. Van Valen’s background in dance, including being the former Assistant Director the the University of Miami and Miami HEAT dance teams as well as a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader and Miami HEAT Cheerleader and Dancer, inform her approach to building resilience in and out of the workplace. Her involvement in programs like the Breaking Points for Women of Color at CVS Health and her active participation in the Association for Talent Development as a Power Member at both international and local levels highlights her commitment to mentorship and professional growth. While her role on the
Board of Directors for Experience Camps for Grieving Children, along with past positions such as Executive Board Member for Jack and Jill of America, Inc., underscores her commitment to helping others overcome challenges. While her volunteer work in South Africa with the Ekukhanyeni Relief Project, aiding children affected by infectious diseases, highlights her dedication to creating inclusive communities and supporting those in need.
As a licensed mental health therapist and natural connector, she contributes to organizations like the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the National Speakers Association. In addition, she serves as the Healthcare Industry Co-chair elect for the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Her resilience-building platform has influenced audiences around the world with thought leadership about navigating setbacks, pushing through adversity, and enhancing wellbeing.
Van Valen’s comprehensive academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Miami, where she also became a licensed behavioral health clinician. She holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University (NSU), enhancing her expertise in therapeutic practices. Additionally, her professional depth is further highlighted by her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from NSU, with a specialization in Human Resources. This is complemented by her credentials as a Senior Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and a specialty in Inclusive Workplace Culture from SHRM, effectively integrating her knowledge of psychology with advanced organizational dynamics and inclusive leadership principles.
Originally from the Bahamas and now residing in South Florida, Van Valen enjoys a fulfilling personal life as a wife and mother of three.
