Tim LaKose

With an extraordinary knack for transforming underachievers into high performers, Tim LaKose brings a unique and invaluable skill set honed over three decades across coaching, business, and parenting. Throughout his career, LaKose has impacted student-athletes, fellow coaches, and communities alike, fueled by a genuine desire to impart knowledge, provide guidance, and inspire growth through sports.

Tim LaKose Coaching, or TLC for short, serves as a conduit for sharing his extensive experience, spanning over 30 years in coaching and education. Through TLC, LaKose offers a unique blend of insights derived from his experiences in parenting, business, education, and sports, showcasing a multifaceted approach to achieving success. This holistic methodology not only highlights his adaptability but also reflects his dedication to fostering development and excellence both within and beyond the realm of athletics.

Twice named the National Division I Independent Coach of the Year and West Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, LaKose has been recognized for his impact throughout levels of women’s basketball. Currently, as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Dominican University, LaKose has led the team to its best record in the NCAA D-II era, securing the Dominican University Team of the Year Award. 

Previously, at San Jose State University, he was honored as the WAC Coach of the Year for leading the team to the biggest program turnaround for the year in NCAA women’s college basketball. And during his tenure at California State University of Bakersfield, LaKose guided the women’s basketball team to three conference championships, five NCAA D-II tournament appearances, and the 2003 D-II West Regional championship, ultimately becoming the school’s all-time winningest coach.

At California Lutheran University, he led the program to secure four NCAA tournament appearances and five SCIAC Conference championships. His career, marked by strategic foresight and an unwavering commitment to excellence, showcases a legacy of transforming and elevating women’s basketball programs to their peak performance levels.

Beyond the court, LaKose actively engages with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association, and he serves on the board of the Catholic Youth Organization. With a Master’s in Education from California Lutheran University and a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from California State University Northridge, plus certifications in athletic training and strength conditioning, LaKose champions both mental and physical health. He conducts webinars, leads training sessions, and has contributed to business development at Sparta Performance Science and Float House, an outdoor sports company. This diverse involvement showcases his multifaceted commitment to nurturing well-being in every aspect of life

As a father of two girls, LaKose seamlessly blends the lessons learned from parenting with his holistic leadership philosophy. LaKose emphasizes an inclusive culture, ensuring that each individual experiences belonging. He prioritizes the development of people, instilling values of teamwork, leadership, and compassion. This approach has not only elevated the performance of his teams but has also fostered environments where emerging leaders thrive under the guidance of care and mutual respect.
