As an associate commissioner and a former professional basketball player, Valerie McQuade is leading with affable, level-headed direction while driving high-impact efforts.
McQuade is currently the Associate Commissioner of Marketing & Broadcasting at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), where she oversees all marketing services, including sponsorship fulfillment for all 23 MAAC Championship broadcasts on ESPN platforms, serving as the conference liaison to ESPN and coordinating over 600+ school productions.
Additionally, she develops game presentation elements for all MAAC Championships and ancillary events, which include game scripts, public announcement reads, commercial rundowns, and in-game promotions.
Broadcasting and viewership are essential, and McQuade’s influence in her role allows school brands and stories to be told and ensures that student-athletes are elevated.
Prior to joining the MAAC, McQuade played professional basketball in Germany. While sports play an important role in McQuade’s life, she also understands the power of significant moments and strives to create seamless experiences for student-athletes, their families, and the community. With a personal passion for music events, McQuade knows firsthand how experiences tell stories and connect people with moments to remember.
Although McQuade’s leadership presence is often felt behind the scenes, she is the point person who drives marketing strategies that have a robust impact. Her attention to detail in internal and external communications during high-pressure situations produces successful executions. And her conscious leadership and open-door approach enable her to be supportive and best serve all stakeholders.
McQuade’s MBA, with a concentration in Strategic Management, and Bachelor’s in Marketing from Niagara University continue to contribute to the success and strength of her work and her overall ability to be effective in creating memorable moments and positive experiences for others.
